Valero’s Substance Abuse Policy
Valero’s Substance Abuse Policy includes drug and alcohol testing in the following situations:
Any employee who brings prescription drugs to work must carry the medication in the original container with a valid prescription.
An employee taking a prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medication that may cause impairment to the employee’s ability to safely and effectively perform the essential functions of his/her job is required to notify his/her supervisor. The supervisor should then contact local HR, prior to the employee commencing work.
There might be times as employees that we participate in company-sponsored events where alcohol is served. Employees should refrain from becoming intoxicated, impaired, or display conduct that brings discredit to the company.
A positive drug test results in termination.
Valero encourages employees to seek assistance to correct alcohol or drug abuse/dependency through the Self Identification Program. To be eligible, the employee must come forward prior to being asked to submit a drug test.
