Conflict Management/Communication Strategies
This course guides participants through the process of developing effective resolution strategies for different conflict situations. Participants learn effective ways of communication.
Constructive Conversations
This course provides supervisors a framework for providing constructive feedback. Supervisors learn tools that increase receptiveness to feedback and decrease defensiveness.
Performance Management
This section includes Valero’s approach to Performance Management which includes Setting Performance Expectations, Coaching, and Feedback. Resources and guides provided.
HR & Legal Responsibilites
Representatives from Labor Relations, Regulatory and Litigation Law, Labor and Employment, and Human Resources discuss important issues and topics a new supervisor needs to know.
TO-DO’S
Frontline Leadership Timeline
Within 0 - 6 Months
Human Resources meets with new supervisor. They discuss classes, dates, and supervisor’s availability.
2 Months Prior to Class
Human Resources submits supervisor’s name to class and awaits confirmation.
1 Month Prior to Class
Supervisor receives class information and confirms attendance to program administrator.
Before Arriving to Class
Supervisor reflects on time spent in role to identify areas of improvement and completes all pre work assigned prior to first day of class.
2 Weeks After Class
Upon return to work, supervisor meets with his/her manager to discuss lessons learned.
3 Months After Class
Supervisor provides feedback on class through confidential evaluation.
